PA CMT Description:
Existing traffic signals at 72nd/Troost and 72nd/Woodland are single phase only allowing only one direction of travel at a time. Improvements will provide protected left turns and traffic signal coordination to reduce congestion. Additional transit amenities are being evaluated at N Oak to provide additional non-vehicular travel options. In-fill sidewalks and ADA improvements will improve access for all system users.
PA SOV Capacity:
Project includes only new turn lanes to improve traffic flow. There is the opportunity to partner with MoDOT for the improvements at the M-1 & 72nd Street intersection. Geometric and technology improvements will provide a reduction in the congestion at this location.

G5 Purpose and need:
NE/NW 72nd Street is a major east/west corridor in the northland. Adding sidewalks and improving traffic flow will further enhance the corridor. Existing traffic signals at N Troost and N Woodland operate in a single phase which results in congestion along the corridor. The intersection at M-1 requires additional capacity.
