Arterial Traffic signal system software is the key to efficient operations of traffic signal and connected systems. Advances in signal systems allow for more efficient operations. This project support the regions ability to consider capitalizing on advances in arterial management systems.

By decreasing the amount of time motorists have to idle at intersections, Operation Green Light helps reduce emissions that contribute to the formation of ground-level ozone, the Kansas City area’s main air pollutant. A number of studies can be found on MARCs website showing the emissions benefits as can also be found on FHWA.
