This intersection experiences high traffic volumes at peaking times associated with the Lansing High School. Many of these drivers are inexperienced, and we have experienced some traffic crashes at this location. The installation of a roundabout will enhance both traffic flow, as well as safety at this high volume (relative) intersection.

This plan will have modest greenhouse gas emission reduction through improved traffic efficiency. In addition future bicycle and pedestrian facilities are envisioned for this location.

A greater than average number of veterans utilize this corridor when compared to both regional and national usage statistics. This is due to the greater number of veterans that live within this influence of this intersection.

This project has been included in the comprehensive plan. This project has been in the public CIP discussions for the past two years. There was a lengthy discuss on this specific project at a Lansing City Council meeting.

Roundabout construction is a key strategy in reducing vehicle emissions. This corridor is a primary pedestrian link between the High School and the municipal facilities (public library)

This intersection is currently at the intersections of two significant corridors. There has been continued residential development in this area, and with the addition of the High School, it is envisioned a walking / bicycle facility to tie that development to the school.
