The Vivion Road Corridor Study was completed in 2010 and was a joint effort between KCMO, Gladstone, Riverside, Northmoor, and MoDOT. 2 public meetings were conducted and comments were incorporated into the plan.

In the Kansas City Trails Master Plan from 2008, this trail was identified as a multi-jurisdictional, disconnected trail that if completed would be an ideal east-west connection. Several sections have been constructed since then leaving this important link to be completed. Recommendations from the 2010 Vivion Road Improvements Study will be incorporated into the design. Furthermore, recommenations of the Regional Wayfinding PSP will also be incorporated into the project where feasible.
