This project implements a segment of the trail network plan for the City of Liberty providing a connection from residential neighborhoods to the Community Center and middle school. This will serve as a part of an overall trail connection that will link over 2 miles of existing trails.

This project will provide a safe walking and biking trail that increases their mode choice to go to activity centers with minimal crossing of streets and driveways. This project promotes the safety of all users. I also provides a shorter distance than following the street network.

The Trails and Greenways Plan was guided by a Staff
Advisory Team and developed through a public
participation process consisting of community meetings
and online information and feedback. The map was then
amended to best fit the vision of the community. The draft
plan was reviewed by the Parks and Recreation Board,
Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council.

G19.1 Describe PSP relationship:
|
This trail connects residential neighborhoods to parks and encourages active transportation. As new neighborhoods are developed trail design and construction are part of the requirements to implement the citys trail and greenway plan. This project will address safe crossing of S. Wales with access under the street as well as improved safety of crosswalk and flashing yield to pedestrian beacons. The trail design is through enhancement of the the greenway, and is part of an overall trail and greenway plan. Maintaining the existing environment is the goal of the plan as well as providing a comfortable environment for the users of the trail by keeping the existing tree cover.
